- Tante location in pochi passi.
- Adattabile a ogni epoca.

Why Atrani
Italy’s smallest town, the Mediterranean’s greatest film set
Atrani from above: the beach, the piazza beneath the arches of the SS 163 and the Collegiata on the headland
From Roberto Rossellini to Netflix, from Denzel Washington to Zendaya: Atrani has been a film set for more than seventy years.
A UNESCO World Heritage village at the heart of the Amalfi Coast, Atrani is an untouched fishing village caught between the cliffs and the sea, where every alley, arch and stairway is a ready-made shot. Not a built set, but a real, lived-in location that changes with the light at every hour of the day.

Five good reasons
- Authentic, not built. Washing hung out to dry, boats pulled up on the sand, children playing in the piazza: real life provides the backdrop, with no need for extras or set dressing.
- Many locations, a few steps apart. In less than 200 metres you go from the beach to the piazza, from covered alleys to medieval churches: fewer company moves and more productive shooting days.
- Ready for any era. The village has played the 1920s (A Good Woman), the 1950s (Ripley), the present day (The Equalizer 3) and the future (the Fiat 500 Hybrid commercial with robots).
- Light that changes the scene. Dawn lights up the domes, sunset sets the rock ablaze, and at night the street lamps turn the piazza into an open-air living room.
- A Town Hall that works with you. One point of contact for permits, spaces, local police and relations with the community.
A muse for artists
M.C. Escher drew Atrani in 1931 (“Atrani, Coast of Amalfi”) and featured it in his famous woodcuts Metamorphosis II and III, where the village turns into a chessboard. Patricia Highsmith set Dickie Greenleaf’s life on this coast in “The Talented Mr. Ripley”, a story now tied to Atrani through the Netflix series.
The philosopher Walter Benjamin, who passed through Atrani in 1924, wrote: “The curved Baroque stairway rising gently towards the church. The railing behind the church. The litanies of the old women at the Ave Maria: a preparatory course for the first class of passing over. If you turn around, the church borders, like God himself, on the sea. Alleys like ventilation shafts. In the market square a fountain. Towards evening, women at its edge. Then alone. An archaic gurgling”. The poet Alfonso Gatto celebrated the light and stone of the village in his travel verses: “From the inner coast to the wide bend, green of houses, pink, white Atrani, a city of long ago and of every day, is caught by the surprise of being: its fabric frees it with light, for dwellings that climb walled into the living rock, unharmed in holding firm and bright their slanting terraces, the domes of churches. In the deep arches of the viaduct the green sea, sunken, turns to black. Above, the windowpanes of sunset; below, this cool talk that is already evening”.
